Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Why We're Wearing Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as a woman-owned practice here in Virginia Beach, this is something we wanted to acknowledge.

Every day, we have the privilege of caring for women who carry a great deal, and because breast cancer has touched so many families, wearing pink felt like one small way to show our support. It is our way to recognize the survivors, encourage those still in treatment, and give a shout-out to the loved ones who help carry the weight through meals, rides, check-ins, and simply being present.

At Dr. Sarah Orthodontics, we have always believed that caring for someone means seeing more than the reason they came through the door, and that same spirit carries into one of our favorite yearly traditions.

The Great Candy Buy Back Is Back

Every year after Halloween, we invite local families to bring in their unopened candy for The Great Candy Buy Back, and this year your Halloween haul just got a whole lot sweeter.

Kids can swap their unopened candy for $2 per pound, up to $10 per child, and every piece collected will be donated to Manna Ministry to help local families.

Dr. Sarah will also match every dollar earned with a donation supporting breast cancer research, which means one simple bag of leftover Halloween candy can do a little more good than you might expect.

It is a total win-win. The kids get a little cash, families get some of that extra candy out of the house, Manna Ministry receives the candy we collect, and together we get another opportunity to support something that matters to us.

This year’s Candy Buy Back will run Monday, November 2nd through Friday, November 6th at Dr. Sarah Orthodontics in Virginia Beach. We are grateful to be part of a community that still knows how to show up for one another, with love, grace, and sometimes a very large bag of Halloween candy.
